STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
Discuss and agree with the Technical Leader appropriate analysis modeling strategies and software for use on the project.
Together with the Technical Leader, identify requirements for specialist inputs and ensure that these are obtained at appropriate times during the design process, and are incorporated in the structural design, (e.g. wind tunnel, geotechnical/foundation engineering, façade engineering, PT/PS concrete design etc.)
Together with the Technical Leader, carry out design reviews at appropriate intervals during the design process. At a minimum, this will be at the end of each design stage. However, interim reviews may be required.
Carry out detailed design coordination with all other disciplines.
Manage other professionals on a project basis. Ensure that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time, and within man-hour budget.
Ensure that the structural departments QMS is being implemented and that the engineers assigned to QMS functions are fulfilling these functions effectively (on a project basis).
Monitor project progress, and report to Technical Leader on actual or anticipated time.
Recommend to the Technical Leader personnel requirements for projects
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
Requires strong organizational, analytical and quantitative skills.
Ability to make effective presentations on general topics.
Partners with clients to exceed their expectations and build client relations.
Thorough understanding of structural behavior, soil/structure interaction, local and international design codes and standards.
Demonstrates experience in managing and designing large and/or complex structural projects from concept design through construction document production.
Requires intermediate knowledge of financial terms and principles.
Ability to calculate intermediate figures. Conducts intermediate financial analysis.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.
Ability to use structural analysis and design software, including at least one and preferably several of the following: STAAD, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, AutoCAD, REVIT.
??EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor (or higher) Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and
10+ years of relevant experience.
Society of Engineers, or eligible for membership
