Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Instrument Designer to work as part of their Engineering Group and will be reporting to Client’s Lead Instrument Engineer for a nominal period of 12 months.
Core Responsibilities required as below:
Responsible for design personnel, supervision, workload allocation and delivery in conjunction with Lead discipline Engineer
Ensure, as far as reasonably practical, that assigned work is compliant to agreed budget and schedule
Input into project plans, progress updates for assigned scopes
Maintain project scope/schedule change(s) in accordance with project change control process
Ensure compliance to applicable standards, regulations, codes and procedures
Maintain effective communication with project management and inter discipline teams
Responsible for preparation, review and check of work, including assigned personnel, output and delivery (including remote working, e-checking/approval etc.)
Maintain discipline / design document filing(including electronic) and update of design database(s)
Provide support to assigned design personnel (including trainee mentoring and technical assistance)
Maintain regular contact and dialog with Lead discipline Engineer, highlighting issues, concerns or areas for improvement.
Support senior personnel / assist Lead Engineer with execution of their responsibilities and duties
Familiar with AS BUILDING process required in Oil and Gas Process plants
Familiar with NEC and IEC hazardous areas standards and equipment selection
Ensures that the technical and safety integrity of the design is maintained and that the Company and Project procedures are adhered to
Maintenance of professional standards with regard to both attitude and work
Carry out of Site Surveys, as required, related to assigned scopes of work
Brownfield and Greenfield structural design experience
Skills / Qualifications
Experience Profile:
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience as an Instrument designer in Oil and Gas environment
Fully conversant with international design codes
Proficient in AutoCAD design software(2D and 3D)
Educational Qualifications:
Higher instrument/electronics/electrical qualification (HNC/D or equivalent)
Competencies/Skills/Others:
Should be pragmatic, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative
Able to present and write technical reports in fluent English
Expected to take ownership of issues and follow them through to completion
Willingness to interact directly with people
Good presentation skills
Ability to work in an organised and structured fashion, and within time constraints
