We’re building a venture that develops a more dependable method for diagnosing pneumonia in children in low-resource environments.

The invention

ChARM is an automated breath counter that accurately measures respiratory rate in children. It provides significantly more reliable results than manual and other automated techniques, enabling fast and accurate pneumonia diagnosis by community health workers or clinics. The device is available in both non-rechargeable and rechargeable versions, making it suitable for settings with- or without the ability to recharge the device. The device is ready for the market and has been supported by extensive clinical research. The next steps involve developing a successful go-to-market strategy and setting up collaborations with partners, such as prominent NGOs.

The position of CEO

The CEO will be responsible for developing and executing the overall business and commercial strategy, actively supported by NLC The Healthtech Venture Builder and partnering with The Phillips Foundation and other strategic partners.

Responsibilities include:

Dilutive and non-dilutive fundraising.
Defining and executing a commercial strategy for the device to sell in low resource environments
Partnering with NGO’s and distributors to bring the device to the patient in low resource settings
As CEO, lead the integrated venture including: Q&R, R&D, legal, and financial workstreams

You are highly motivated to make an impact on patients, have commercial success and bring the following characteristics, experience and network:

Entrepreneurial
A proven track-record in commercialisation of medical devices in Low and Middle Income Countries
A connector with strong networking and influencing ability at all levels of seniority
Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills
Have fundraising experience, both dilutive and non-dilutive
A strong network with leading NGO’s and commercial distributors focused on providing healthcare to low resource settings
